Celebrating Leatherhead
Well here we are at our third annual event. We have a new theme of “Wild Leatherhead”, especially in the schools art competition.
Saturday 28th of June sees us at Therfield School for a Family Sports and Fun Day. This is a brand new addition, especially for North Leatherhead. There’ll be coaching and competitions, rugby, tennis, football, basketball, cricket and rounders - for all ages. Children of all ages are already booking in. There will also be food and drinks, sideshows, ice creams, table top sales and displays of all kinds.
Participants ONLY £3 for the day – including coaching and competitions - all other visitors FREE!
Bensons Fun Fair from 2pm - 10pm - with all rides for £1.00 (Dodgems £2.00) GREAT VALUE.
Sunday 29th of June – Benson’s Funfair & Fun Day at the North Leatherhead Recreation Ground - There’ll be ice creams, further displays and a few surprises. And while all this is going on Benson’s Funfair will be providing fun and thrills for the young and the not so young from 12pm - 8pm.
From 2pm - Local BMX supremo (Smithy) Dan Smith and friends will give a display of skilled BMX biking at the skate park at North Leatherhead Rec, from with stunts and flair - they are there to advise and encourage.
Saturday 5th of July sees our Fun Day in the High Street including Hope 2008. Throughout the day there will be Poptastic, our local dance supremos, food stalls, a story telling clown, card readings, face painting, musicians, a mime artist, a hog roast, free balloons for children and a lot more besides – plus a wonderful continental food fair.
In the evening the Open Heaven band and singers will be leading a contemporary Christian music event. There will be a moving presentation from the story telling clown, back, by popular demand.
There is also a School’s Art Competition throughout the entire week with some great prizes!
Also an amazing evening “One Night With The Piano Men” with Martyn Lucas and his grand piano; accompanied by musicians from the world acclaimed British Philharmonic Orchestra. A Sunday morning multimedia event is planned for those interested in finding faith in these troubled times.
This programme’s centre spread will reveal a number of other things going on around the town.
A huge ‘thank you’ must go to Graham and Sheila Taylor who have organised and coordinated Leatherhead Life 2008. But we couldn’t do this without some great people such as Dick Jones of Jones’ Creative Services, local photographer Andy Newbold, High Street Market Manager Tom Spores, Town Centre Manager Lucy Hanson, Mark Taylor of X-Sport, the Head Teacher and staff at Therfield school, Andy and Marguerite Slatter who organised the art competition. And of course our sponsors who are mentioned elsewhere.
Let’s celebrate the best of Leatherhead and surrounding area.
